GOOD-centric Exterior Spiritual Disciplines:
To live out goodness, fairness, and love
GOOD-centric Statement: Upon This Rock I Stand
In homage to Robert G. Ingersoll’s What Must We Do to Be Saved?, I have made a GOOD-centric update to my GOD statement:
There is no eternally loving, good, and fair God; so, let us be agents of love, goodness, and fairness. Let us be morally excellent, virtuous, righteous, and pious; not cruel, impatient, or egoistic. Let us be free from bias, dishonesty, and injustice; not giving or maintaining systems that give an unfair advantage to one group of people over another.
Our primary life responsibility is to live out Good as best we can. Our best tool of discernment is the movement of love in our life. Are we transforming into more loving people? People concerned with others in ever widening circles? Are we shedding our self-centeredness? Are our actions furthering the movement of love in the world? While our living out will never be perfect, we are called to continue to strive towards Good on personal, societal, and global levels. Being GOOD-centric is more than being perpetually sweet, spreading sunshine, and distributing lollipops. It is kingdom building wherein we create a world where love, goodness, and fairness thrive.
Our GOOD-centric mantra is “How would my action affect the movement of love in the world?" Ask that question time and time again and watch the flowering of love, goodness, and fairness in creation. Be GOOD-centric.
