UnDecember: Even Jesus Has Problems

“It is often said that the early Church did not display the same hesitancy about Jesus as he himself did. The focus shifted from the God-person relationship to the identity and work of Jesus. In the codified terminology of this shift, the proclaimer became the one proclaimed and the witness to faith became the ground of faith… The evangelist was not a neutral collector and arranger of Jesus material. He had points to make and Jesus was one of the ways he made them. To some extent the Jesus who emerges in each Gospel carries the theological agenda of the writer.”
